What a lovely, lovely book. Worth every red penny. I've been playing around with the idea of making some of my own designs lately. Probably nothing fancy at all, and probably more for my own creative process and enjoyment than for selling or anything along those lines. But let me tell you, this book is genius. I could pour over the stitch patterns for hours and hours. It came in the mail yesterday and I have not yet had a chance to start swatching, but I have a week long break from school coming up!!!!! I've started carrying around a sketch book and have print outs and magazine pictures and drawings and I think I'm coming up with some good stuff. However, it seems to take me forever just to knit an already prepared patterns so at my rate it could YEARS before I get anything done!
I just love being crafty. I was thinking last night as I was listening to an Audible.com audio book that I love the tactileness of craft. That mostly sprang from the thought that I cannot listen to a 'serious' book aloud. I need the touch of the page, the smell of the book, the ability to write all over the pages. I especially enjoy a brand new hardback book. Knitting is kind of like that. The brand new yarn, the touch and feel of it and the needles, the tactileness of knitted fabric, how you can move it and stretch it and change it. It's all about the senses. The pictures in this book are so fabulous that it's really not just the sight sense, you can almost feel the textures as you browse the pages. I'm still waiting on the mailman to bring me Volume Deux - Cablefantistic. Let the fun begin!!
